Born in Johannesburg, Dale was introduced to photography at an early age by his father. During his school years, he won numerous awards for his images which set him off on a twenty year journey of discovery - Working as a photojournalist for 'The Star' Newspaper, he covered many of South Africa's important social and political issues from 1979 until 1985.

After freelancing for newspapers in London, he moved to Los Angeles where he spent the next 10 years working for magazines and the advertising industry.

Dale has been living and working in Cape Town since 1996 and collaborates with artist Arlene Amaler-Raviv, combining painting, photography and digital imaging.
